North American West History at UA

The study of the North American West is both transnational and regional at the University of Arizona. With particular expertise in borderlands, Mexico and Southwest U.S. history, Department of History faculty research and publish on a range of topics including comparative studies (U.S./Canada and U.S./Mexico), history of mining, ranching and natural resources, American Indian history, as well as environmental, immigration, race, labor, and gender history. Graduate students draw on related academic programs including American Indian Studies, Gender and Women's Studies, Latin American Studies, and Mexican American Studies.
